The file is created by the software, not the OS so an upgrade from XP to Windows 7 will make no difference at all. If you have different versions of Office like 97-2003 or 2007 or even the latest at school and at home then save them in the appropriate format. What you have to note is that if you have created the files using Microsoft office 2007, you can't open the file on Office 2003 package. You can only open Office 2003 file on 2007.
